The py27-mysql @1.2.3 port has a +mysql55 variant but currently no +mariadb variant, meaning mysql55 must be installed along with mariadb for the py27-mysql port to properly install. (On my local system, I have installed the mariadb @5.5.30 port without mysql55 and have been able to compile the python mysql connector v1.2.3 and v1.2.4.b4 from source and run it in python 2.7 successfully.) As part of the upgrade, macports pulled down octave- general @1.3.2. But the build failed, thus preventing me from upgrading my octave-signal port. It appears that the portfile's build script fails to create intermediate directories and thus cannot populate them with intermediate results. "moreutils" also installs a utility called "parallel", but it is incompatible with (and less flexible than) GNU parallel. I want to be able to install GNU parallel at the same time as the other utilities from moreutils (like "ts"). Here's how other OSs solve this conflict: * Fedora doesn't provide the "parallel" utility at all in the moreutils package (I, personally, would be happy with this choice). * Ubuntu (and maybe Debian as well?) disables the "parallel" utility from moreutils if you install GNU parallel when moreutils is already installed (I would also be happy with this; does macports allow doing this?). Another option would be to add a "-parallel" variant to the "moreutils" port, and mark it so that it doesn't conflict with the "parallel" port. Is it possible to mark only a particular variant of a port as conflicting?
