Building octave

Hi, I encountered some problems when building SuiteSparse and have applied the patch using: sudo patch -p1 < patch-SuiteSparse-Portfile and this appears to apply the patch: patching file opt/local/var/db/dports/sources/rsync.rsync.darwinports.org_dpupdate_dports/math/SuiteSparse/Portfile patching file files/patch-complex-type patching file files/patch-config patching file files/patch-disable-demos patching file files/patch-macports-metis patching file files/patch-powerpc-nanotime patching file files/patch-size_t-fix However, when I come to build octave, I do: sudo port -v install octave and get: Portfile changed since last build; discarding previous state. ---> Fetching SuiteSparse ---> patch-complex-type doesn't seem to exist in /opt/local/var/db/dports/distfiles/SuiteSparse ---> Attempting to fetch patch-complex-type from http://distfiles-od.opendarwin.org/SuiteSparse % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 --:--:-- 0:00:56 --:--:-- 0 Various attempts are made to find the file patch-complex-type to no avail. Can someone tell me what I need to do to build SuiteSparse? Thanks.

problem selfupdating old (pre 1.2) darwinports

Hi - I'm trying to selfupdate an antique version of darwinports, and when I do sudo port -d selfupdate I get an error: Selfupdate failed: couldn't open "/opt/local/var/db/dports/sources/rsync.rsync.opendarwin.org_dpupdate1/base/dp_version": no such file or directory this is understandable, because my version of darwinports is antique on this machine (I (badly, very badly) haven't touched it for a long time) and as the comment for revision http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/macports/changeset/15358 states the dp_version file has moved. If I duplicate from base/config/dp_version to base/dp_version, then the sync will remove it... clearly I just need to make install (or something similar - I'm bit vague on such authentic unixness) for the actual port command itself (without syncing and checking versions and so on. but not sure how/where to do this. Alternatively I could reinstall, but don't want the new darwinports to forget about the state of my existing ports... advice appreciated! (also, perhaps relevant? I was running panther, but have upgraded to tiger recently, and wondered if that might have any influence on the matter?) thanks Tim

error installing GHC

How does one find a port containing a file, e.g. mkisofs? Generally, which listing/installation mechanisms, similar to dpkg, are available? Cheers, Alexy

Make Python25 the default Python Installation

Hello, I've just installed Python 2.5 using Macports. Unfortunately, the system (OS X) still uses Python 2.3.x, which comes installed with OS X, as its default Python installation. I've already tried: sudo port activate python25 which yielded a message saying that that already was the active python version (which is logical, it is the only Python version I installed using MacPorts). Any help would be highly appreciated! L. Holland

Out of Date Scheme 48

Hello: S48.org reports that the latest version of scheme 48 is 1.4. After updating my macports tree and typing sudo port upgrade scheme48 nothing happened. scheme48 says that it is at version 1.3. Scheme48 1.4 builds from source directly with no errors.
