pythonw missing under py-wxpython 2.8.1.1?

I've been trying to get an environment that lets me run python & the wxwidgets - more recent stuff than what comes on my Mac. Some of my problems have been logged under bug ticket #11165 at macports.org. I'm trying a new approach. I got rid of my whole dports, and am starting over. dports (and a selfupdate) installed fine, it seems. Then I did "sudo port install py-wxpython" which seemed to install everything without any hiccups. But "pythonw" is missing. And that is (or used to be) what I used to run my script. Haven't tried Intel. >Do you have /opt/local/lib/libtidy-0.99.0.dylib? >Do you have /opt/local/bin/tidy and does it work? /opt/local/lib/libtidy-0.99.0.dylib does not exist on either the Intel or the PowerPC, but it doesn't seem to bother PHP on the PowerPC. /opt/local/lib has libtidy-0.99.0, libtidy.a and libtidy.la plus 3 aliases (libtidy and libtidy-0.99.0.0.0, both of which point to libtidy-0.99.0 and libtidy.0.dylib which does not appear to point at anything). Uninstalling deletes all these files, reinstalling recreates all of them. I tried creating an alias called "libtidy-0.99.0.dylib" pointing to libtidy-0.99.0, but that didn't work. PHP complained the image was not the right size. /opt/local/bin/tidy is present, but I don't know how to test if it is working. I have an identical Intel Mac running PHP 5.1.6 and Tidy 20051025_0 with no problem. Is it possible to transfer a portfile from another machine and install it over the newer version of PHP? Any help to get PHP running again would be appreciated. John

Cannot start apache2 with php5.

Hi! I installed apache2, php5 and mysql5 through macports and the installation went great. I added the LoadModule line for php5 and tried to start Apache2. The problem is that apache doesn't want to start. Apache prints this message to error_log: dyld: /opt/local/apache2/bin/httpd Undefined symbols: _sqlite3_bind_parameter_count _sqlite3_bind_text _sqlite3_changes _sqlite3_close _sqlite3_column_bytes _sqlite3_column_count _sqlite3_column_name _sqlite3_column_text _sqlite3_column_type _sqlite3_errmsg _sqlite3_finalize _sqlite3_free _sqlite3_mprintf _sqlite3_open _sqlite3_prepare _sqlite3_reset _sqlite3_step Apache starts without any problems if I remove the LoadModule line for the php5 module. My spec: Panther 10.3.9 Macport version 1.320 Any ideas how this can be solved? //Patrik J

netcdf orphaned; Fortran integration

Hello folks, The netcdf port seems orphaned: http://trac.macports.org/projects/macports/browser/trunk/dports/ science/netcdf/Portfile As per http://metadir.andrew.cmu.edu/mailsearch.html the previous maintainer is no longer affiliated with CMU. I'll see if I can follow up more tomorrow. The reason I'm asking is because I need the fortran interface for a user's code, and perhaps later plug in more recent versions. I managed to locally add a variant "+ifort" using "port edit", which relies on the Intel Fortran compiler, and the package's regression test "make test" passes, explicitly verifying the fortran interface as well. Now for the bleeding newbie questions: Q1: Is it OK to use a commercial compiler? Q2: What's the canonical way to express that? - note dependency (if any)? - note compiler version? (ifc7, ifc8, and ifort9 are notably different) Q3: Where do I submit a patch to a non-maintainer? If I go to: http://trac.macports.org/projects/macports/report and click on the big "New Ticket" (not obvious as a link, BTW), I get: http://trac.macports.org/projects/macports/newticket Permission Denied TICKET_CREATE privileges are required to perform this operation Has the dust settled since the DarwinPorts migration? Seems some of the docs are not yet migrated. Any help appreciated - I mean, I'd like to push my patch upstream, so I get the benefit on other hosts without creating my own patch management system ;-) Regards, Michael

gnucash, from scratch -- qt3 and aqbanking issues

I had some issues updating gnucash on a macbook (c2d), 10.4.8, so I started from scratch. Unfortunately, I ran into the same issue. (Hurray for macports, "doing the right thing", though!). Running port version 1.320 The build fails for me in the install phase of builing qt3. InstallScript.sh, in the qt3 working directory, has the offending line: mv /opt/local/var/db/dports/build/ _private_opt_local_var_db_dports_sources_rsync.rsync.darwinports.org_dpu pdate_dports_x11_qt3/work/destroot/opt/local/lib/*.* /opt/local/var/ db/dports/build/ _private_opt_local_var_db_dports_sources_rsync.rsync.darwinports.org_dpu pdate_dports_x11_qt3/work/destroot/opt/local/lib/qt3/lib/ which fails, because the "*.*" pattern does not match in said directory. I can remove/comment this line, and the build proceeds. aqbanking then fails in configure, trying to locate (AFAIK), the qt uic compiler: configure: *** QT3 is required for QT-frontend "qbanking". Specify -- with-frontends="cbanking g2banking" to build aqbanking without that frontend. configure: error: *** Requirements not fulfilled. Fix your requirements or change the *** configuration. So I modified the aqbanking ports file, and added the above recommended flags, and the build succeeds. The rest of the dependencies build, as does gnucash (eventually!). I have no idea if the changes I made are the right ones. Who would I contact to verify? I'm not sure if I have the time to formulate an official patch, as I am not entirely sure which objects I modified are derived objects. Gnucash seems to run, though I have not exactly put it through its paces. I see that gnucash has quite a few (recursive) dependencies!
