Hi, I just tried to install gcc 3.4.6 on a relatively clean Mac Intel OS X 10.4.8 system with a few port installed packages, with the results below. I have XCode Tools 2.4 installed. Do I need a later version of XCode Tools (2.4.1?) for this to work? libiconv and readline upgrade problem

hi, during an upgrade of the `ion3' window manager I got the following errors: ---> Activating readline 5.2.001_0 Error: Activating readline 5.2.001_0 failed: Image error: /opt/local/lib/libhistory.5.0.dylib already exists and does not belong to a registered port. Unable to activate port readline. ---> Deactivating libiconv 1.11_0 Error: Deactivating libiconv 1.11_0 failed: Active version of libiconv is not 1.11_0 but 1.11_0+darwin_8. could someone please tell me the reason and, even better, the solution? thanks, joerg

MAMP installation fails over libxml on MacBook

Six months ago I did a darwinports installation of PHP5 +MySQL5 +Apache2 on my iBook, which, after some troubles, worked well. Now I'm trying to do the same on a MacBook with Intel Core 2 Duo running under MacOS 10.4.8 and I'm getting nowhere. I've followed the InstallingMacPorts wiki. I've copied and executed all the Terminal commands in the Quickstart. The environment variables appear to be correct, apart from maybe the PATH variable, which does not start with MacPorts path but looks like this: PATH=/opt/local/lib/mysql5/bin/mysql:/opt/local/bin/mysql5:/usr/local/ mysql/bin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/lib/ mysql5/bin/mysqladmin:/opt/local/lib/mysql5/bin/mysql Then I downloaded the DarwinPorts1.3.1-10.4.dmg and used it to do the ports installation. This went well and when I executed a 'sudo ports selfupdate', I was told that MacPorts was completely up-to-date. Then I tried following the UsingMacPortsQuickStart, but when I issued the command 'sudo port -v install php5 +apache2 +mysql5' I soon ran into problems: Configuring extensions checking whether to enable LIBXML support... yes checking libxml2 install dir... /opt/local checking for xml2-config path... /opt/local/bin/xml2-config checking whether libxml build works... no configure: error: build test failed. Please check the config.log for details. Warning: the following items did not execute (for php5): com.apple.activate com.apple.configure com.apple.build com.apple.destroot com.apple.install Error: Status 1 encountered during processing. I googled on problems with libxml, but I seem to be the only one who installation fails on this. I still don't have a working installation of Apache2 with php5 and mysql 5, because I can't get ncursesw to install. I did have a working installation until I decided to upgrade. This is running (or not) on a Mac Mini Single Core (a year old) with OS fully updated. I've cleaned, synced, uninstalled and reinstalled everything. I have reformatted the terminal output to resemble what I see on-screen. Does this tell anyone anything? Is there a clue here? What is "Illegal instruction ${AWK-awk}" in line 34? Problems with libgda-1.2.4

I'm having trouble building this port. It's in my dependency path as I try to install gtk-sharp. I'm running 10.4.9 and the latest dev tools. I'm on ports 1.320 and have a mostly-up-to-date set of ports installed, including the lastest mysql5. Fair enough, I'll just install postgresql80, which appears to be the specific port version required by libgda, even though I don't use postgresql80. EOG (Eye of GNOME) works!

ALCON: EOG (Eye of GNOME) version 2.18.0.1 has been committed to the ports tree and should be available later today. More importantly, it works! (By works, I mean that it does not crash at startup and seems to otherwise behave as it seems it should behave). I figured out what was wrong when I reported the crashing behavior to GNOME using bug-buddy, thinking that since eog crashing had been reported on the mailing lists and it had not been fixed, that maybe the upstream developers knew what was happening. Bus Error using SSLeay

I'm using the current SSLeay module (p5-crypt-ssleay) module in a perl script that is trying to get an https URL but it always fails and reports a bus error (i.e., no bus error on http URLs). I am running Mac OS X 1.4.9 and have XCode 2.4.1 installed. I think 10.4.9 may be the problem because the mod date for libmx.A.dylib looks like it was the day I installed 10.4.9. So, I'm looking for confirmation from those who know better that this is probably the case and to see if there is an reasonable solution to fix this problem. Or, would I have to restore to a pre-10.4.9 state? All of my ports are up to date.
