I responded I tried to compile with --disable-mmx, and also --disable-sse and --disable-sse2, individually and collectively, and it had absolutely no effect on the build -- it fails in exactly the same way. Developer access to OSX machine

We're having problems compiling transcode 1.0.3 on MacIntel, though not on PPC. It is triggered by some assembly code and may be binutils related. Does the macports project have development/built machines? Is there a macintel development machine someone from the transcode development team could have long-term access to? Dave

new Portfile for version bump of mutt-devel

Hi, I've added bug https://svn.macosforge.org/projects/macports/ticket/11876 to trac together with a diff file for the port file which bumps mutt-devel to current version 1.5.15. I would also agree to take over the maintainership which means I accept patches and add them to the portfile rather than updating all the variants mysel. Please check the bug and commit the file to the repository. Gruss Olaf

Duplicate port for python24 mx extensions

Hi There is currently a duplicate port for the mx extensions for python. There is py-mx (installs version 2.05 of the extension and appears to have no maintainer) py-egenix-mx-base (installs version 2.06 of the extension, has a maintainer) Obviously the latter of these is the one people should be installing ... should the first of these be removed from the port tree? derek.

Yes, I think that would be a good idea. I worked out how to enable it and it works great. To answer my own original question: to change the GNU configure options, edit the Portfile for the package you are installing. You can find the portfile by running 'port file [packagename]'. I'm mentioning it here for posterity - it doesn't seem to be included in any MacPorts documentation - I found it on an archive of a DarwinPorts list. Gimp Fails to Build

Any ideas? I just loaded the most recent XCode, I did the Port Selfupdate thing.
