I'd like to work/play with the stackless (www.stackless.com) variant of python. How hard would it be for me to create a variant of the mac ports python25 installer that installs an independent copy of python25 with the stackless additions from http://www.stackless.com and the relevant svn repository? The macports file tree appears to be straightforward, altho I haven't found a road map. -Mike

Hi, Has anyone seen such error? Can someone please help me solve the error? When trying selfupdate or install a port, I got error stated in subject. I have checked mailing lists and googled for the error but I couldn't find any similar incident. This happend on 1.4.0, so I have wiped the installation as shown in http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/macports/wiki/FAQ#HowdoIremoveoruninsta… . Then installed 1.5.0 from source. The error still occurs and I cannot selfupdate nor install any ports. Error compiling gtk-sharp

Hey, all! I am a newbie in MacOS X (been using it for almost a year now), with some Linux background. I am running MacOS X 10.4.10 on a Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro. I downloaded and installed MacPorts 1.5 in order to try and install MonoDevelop (I use Mono 1.2.4, installed from the binary provided at mono-project.org, which does not include gtk-sharp and applications that use it). So, after installing MacPorts 1.5.0, I ran 'sudo port -v selfupdate' and then installed a few apps to test MacPorts: Dia and Planner. Next, I tried installing Gtk#, running 'sudo port -v install gtk-sharp'. The connection to macports.org was closed a few times while fetching tarballs, but after some time, all the source was downloaded and compiled, until I got the error I copied at the end of my message. As I understand it, the code was compiled, but something failed during the activation phase. I thought it was something related to an improper path, but could not understand how to fix it. The file gapi_codegen.exe was built and lies at /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_x11_gtk-sharp/work/gtk- sharp-1.0.10/generator/gapi_codegen.exe. Can somebody help me? ftp via proxy does not work, http works well

Hi all folks, sometime I try to fetch packages through a firewall/proxy. Http works well, but ftp does not. The environment variables http_proxy, https_proxy, ftp_proxy are set to the proxy address. But all the time I try to fetch via ftp I find the target address (Foreign Address) with netstat, with http I find the proxy address. The ftp connect hangs until a timeout, after some minutes. Can't use rsync port

I am trying to use MacPorts inside our corporate infrastructure. And IT security is somewhat strict - very few network ports are open, so I can forget about using rsync's port (or SMB or AFP, etc). We do have access to http and ftp ports through the firewall. If subversion uses a different port (I don't know) than I probably can't use that either. How can I configure MacPorts to use some other method. And NO, I can't get IT to open the network port (I don't know why I always get this question). MacPorts + PHP subversion bindings

Hello all, I'm trying to build the 'svn' PECL package (Subversion bindings for PHP) and running into some problems which I think may be MacPorts related. I've installed the dependencies (PHP 5.2.3 running under apache2, apr 1.2.9, apr-util 1.2.8, and subversion 1.4.3) all from MacPorts and managed to build the svn module, but when I try to load it from within a PHP script with dl() I get the following in my apache error log: dyld: NSLinkModule() error dyld: Symbol not found: _empty_string Referenced from: ./lib/svn.so Expected in: flat namespace [Sun Jul 22 11:15:20 2007] [notice] child pid 4641 exit signal Trace/BPT trap (5) I tried contacting the developers of the module, but it was nothing they had seen before, and they suggested it might be a problem with one of the packages I'd installed from MacPorts (my bug report about it to them is here: http://pecl.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=11667&edit=2) Any ideas or leads would be greatly appreciated! can't compile php5

I had previously been using macports for managing, among other things, a LAMP install on my powerbook. Unfortunately, I had a hard drive failure and just installed the new hard drive and pulled down the v1.5 for OSX 10.4. I installed mysql5 and apache2 but when I went to install php5 the build failed. I was using php5 +mysql5 +apache2 +pear and unfortunately it is erroring out on what looks to be the first dependency.. How do I go about getting this installed. I have never really messed with the underlying ports or maintained one for that matter. gcc42 build problem

pdftk depends on gcc42 in macports 1.5. I cannot for the life of me get gcc42 or gcc43 to build. gcc42 fails with the following error. Any help is appreciated.
