Hi, when I try to log in to the macports bug tracking system, Safari 3 (Mac OS X 10.5.1 with all updates) ALWAYS crashes for me. Installation Issues

I just installed macports 1.6 on my macbook pro running osx 10.5/leopard xcode 3.0 xquartz 2.1.3 It took forever, which i confirmed to be due to long time rsync'ing the tree. It finally said installation successful, but when I went to sudo port it couldn't find port. So I checked and there was no .profile created by the installation script. I added the path manually, but I am concerned that other things may have been missed by the script?? Specifically, is there anything else in the .profile that should have been created. I just installed 'unrar' fine ... Thanks

emacs and Leopard--no X11 support

Hi, I am able to build emacs under Leopard but not to get it to launch in an X window. At the moment, it only works in the local text/Terminal window. This happens even though X11 is running and otherwise functioning more or less normally. Does emacs support X11 windows the way it did under Tiger? I note that I have been running the old emacs versions that I made under Tiger on an updated Loeopard Mac and it works fine. Thanks, Rob

tin 1.8.3 also installs for me on another 10.4.11 Intel system with MacPorts 1.6.0 and Xcode 2.5. "ESPEAKER=localhost" makes Leopard's Gnome speak

Until now I have never heard a sound played by the esound daemon of Gnome in Leopard. I have just discovered that if you export "ESPEAKER=localhost" in the shell from where you launch a Gnome app (i.e. gnome-sound-properties), the sounds are played again. This tip could be mentioned in the documentation of the scripts to launch Gnome for the benefits of those who are still interested in testing (and hopefully maintaining) it. -Guido
