Dispatch gem

Hi! I've just made a gem for the dispatch module recently removed from the main macruby codebase. I believe it's all in working order, you should just be able to: $ sudo macgem i dispatch $ macirb > require 'lib/dispatch' => true > (1..4).p_map {|i| i**2} => [1, 4, 9, 16] etc. Hooray! I've just gotten specs running via mspec. At the moment 4 of 81 expectations fail, all in spec/source_test.rb The source is at https://github.com/gunn/Dispatch How does it look? Vertex buffer objects in OpenGL

I have an openGL program that works if I use vertex arrays to store the geometry data, but if I convert it to use an openGL vertex buffer object then nothing is drawn. Has anyone got vertex buffer objects to work with MacRuby? I am using 0.8 on 10.6.4 (In OpenGL a vertex buffer object just holds geometry but on the graphics card so for large amounts of geometry will be significantly faster than a vertex array where the geometry is held in the client's memory and copied to the graphics card every time it is drawn). The other problem I will have is the colour data is interleaved in with the vertex data so ideally I need to call: glVertexPointer(3, GL_FLOAT, 12) but this function needs to take a void* pointer so how do I create a pointer with a value? Good afternoon MacRuby'rs, Hopefully this question is not out of place, but if it is, my apologies. I just downloaded and installed MacRuby, and am new to this, although I do have an (old) background in programming as it relates to physics. I'm wondering if there is a general scientific plotting engine, e.g., GNUplot or something similar, that anyone could recommend for integrating into custom MacRuby-Cocoa programs (general/customizable 2D and 3D capabilities, and data visualization). In particular, is there an existing package that nicely takes advantage of OS X 10.6 frameworks within the context of the PDF kit? Thanks, Jonathan

Using compiled MacRuby objects from an Objective-C application

I'm working on an application that is primarily Objective-C but uses MacRuby as a plugin language (the application also has a C# / IronRuby counterpart on Windows, allowing for the plugins to be cross-platform). I've been loading the ruby files at runtime using the Objective-C MacRuby API's sharedRuntime and bundling MacRuby into the application bundle. However, the ruby plugins have gotten complex enough that parsing them is taking about 3 seconds at application startup on a modern MacBook Pro. I would like reduce the load time by precompiling the ruby files and linking the resulting object files to the application. So far I've done exactly that, but I can't figure out how to access the ruby classes at runtime from the Objective-C application. I've tried two techniques: // causes SIGABRT id rubyClass = [[MacRuby sharedRuntime] evaluateString:@"MyRubyClass"]; - and - // returns NULL Class rubyClass = NSClassFromString(@"MyRubyClass"); I would love to see an example or description of how this can be done--- how to link pre-compiled ruby files (dylib) to an Objective-C application and then access the classes defined in those ruby files from the Objective-C environment.. MacRuby equivalent to C sizeof(struct Foo)

Hi, I'm trying to write some app in MacRuby with CoreAudio framework. I've notices some framework's C-function require pointer manipulation, and for some cases, I need calculate size of C-struct, but don't know how to get sizeof(struct Foo). Is there any way to calculate size of C-struct in MacRuby? For example, to obtain available formats of audio stream,I have to call AudioStreamGetPropertyInfo() at first. extern OSStatus AudioStreamGetPropertyInfo( AudioStreamID inStream, UInt32 inChannel, AudioDevicePropertyID inPropertyID, UInt32*outSize, Boolean*outWritable); if I specify kAudioStreamPropertyAvailableVirtualFormats as 3rd argument(inPropertyID), outSize gives me total required byte size for [an array of AudioStreamRangedDescription struct] which describe available formats. Daer development team! I have just installed Macruby 0.8, and BridgeSupport preview2. When I have tried to continue working on my Project I'v got this error: * * * * *dlopen(/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreFoundation.framework/Resources/BridgeSupport/CoreFoundation.dylib, 1): no suitable image found. Did find:* * /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreFoundation.framework/Resources/BridgeSupport/CoreFoundation.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture (RuntimeError)* * * I have no idea what this could be. regex error with negative look-ahead and look-behind

When combining negative look-ahead with look-behind in a regexp, macruby doesn't match correctly.
