Hi there, is there a way to use MacRuby within Cocoa apps that do not use GC but classic retain/release or a similar memory-management technique that Apple might announce? Cheers Frank

Hi, I wanted to clear something up - on the download page, it says that: "this release will only work on Intel 64-bit machines running Snow Leopard (10.6) or higher"; is this restriction about the development bundle only, or also about the final binaries generated for end users? In other words, if I build an app with embedded MacRuby (on 10.6 with 64-bit CPU) and share it with other people, will they be able to run it a) on Core Duo, b) on Leopard? Jakub Suder

NSTableView contents goes blank

Hi all, I've got a NSTableView that works fine except for a small detail. If the application runs in the background (window is open, but there are other windows open in front of it) for a long period of time, the contents of the tableview goes all white (blank). Clicking within the tableview or scrolling within it redraws the the contents of the table, but I would rather this not happen. I am scrolling the tableview periodically, one row at a time, so this may be the issue. After I scroll it, I do call reloadData on the table though, and this still happens. I've noticed this on two systems. Has anyone seen this issue? Thanks, Daniel

Macruby Current Versions Symlinks

I'm trying set up rvm to manage multiple versions of Macruby. I want to develop on the release version but I want to test against the unreleased versions. Plus, it is become something of a quest to figure this all out. I'm hitting a problem where although I install different versions under rvm, the current version of Macruby is always the latest version. Worse, even if I have rvm set to an earlier version, scripts run under the latest version. I determined that the problem is caused by the `current` version symlinks. The system macruby automatically defaults to the current version and it looks like some, but not all, rvm scripts also have the path to the latest ruby inserted into the redirection scripts. That's a rvm problem but I've found that I can get things to work by manually swapping out the symlinks in the top of the Macruby.framework directory. I'm thinking of writing my own scripts to substitute or swap out the symlinks. I want to check if I need to do anything else bu swap out the `/Library/Frameworks/MacRuby.framework/Versions/Current` symlink or do I need to swap out something as well? Alternatively, is there an existing method to control Macruby versions (with or without rvm?) Thanks, Shannon Love

Hey All, Bundler's 'exec' and 'open' commands don't currently work in MacRuby, due to bug #204. I was able to write a workaround that gets 'bundle exec' to work under macruby, which is available here: https://github.com/nerdyc/bundler To use this bundler, clone it and then run the 'install' rake task: $ git clone git://github.com/nerdyc/bundler.git $ cd bundler $ macrake install I've also submitted a pull request to the Thor project (where the issue originates), but this is really MacRuby's problem: https://www.macruby.org/trac/ticket/204 best, christian.

Macgem path variable

Greetings, Does macgem use the same path variable as standard gem i.e. GEM_HOME and GEM_PATH? I'm trying to use rvm and I'm trying to figure out where macgem is actually putting gems. Thanks, Shannon

Scripting Terminal.app with ScriptingBridge

Hi all, I'm playing around with Scripting Bridge trying to script Terminal.app. I'm running into issues with adding a new tab to a window, and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Consider this gist: https://gist.github.com/1005066 The only information I could find that was remotely similar was doing something similar with Safari here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2912161/new-tab-in-safari-window-from-co… I tried converting that over to MacRuby, and I get the same error as when I try my gist above. RuntimeError: NSInvalidArgumentException: *** -[SBElementArray addObject:]: can't add an object that already exists. Hopefully I'm just doing something silly? Thanks for the help, Daniel

Could not connect button:

Hi all, I am trying to understand and solve this issue. First of all, I did the following step by step: 1) Create a new project 2) added 'buttonClick(sender)' method to AppDelegate class in AppDelegate.rb -- like this class AppDelegate attr_accessor :window ... def buttonClick(sender) puts "testing" end ... end 3) clicked MainMenu to open a GUI editor 4) dragged a button to the window. 5) open button's Connections Inspector and linked button to 'buttonClick' 6) Click Run button to build the app and execute app The following error from Xcode 4's output console: Could not connect the action buttonClick: to target of class AppDelegate Any idea why am I getting this error and what did I do anything wrong?
