It's not strange at all really, previous versions of iCal just don't  
support CalDAV.  They do support some sharing based on WebDAV but  
with such limited functionality that it's hardly worth discussing in  
the context of the Calendar Server.

Chandler is a great idea, but I've never gotten it to work.

Sunbird doesn't seem horrible, but I've been unable to figure out how  
it's scheduling functionality works or if it even supports it.

I haven't tried lightning because I abhor thunderbird.

And unfortunately Mulberry's initial configuration dialog scares me.

In short the CalDAV client situation is currently quite bleak.   
Hopefully that'll change now that CalDAV has an RFC number and  
everything.
