If that's the case, then they likely don't have anything "special" in  
their login shell's environment that X11.app will need.  Of course  
when they start an xterm, they'll get whatever environment is in their  
shell's environment.

Great, I fail to be convinced that we should allow easy customization  
for those who don't customize...
