Well I would not have noticed that since my xterm command in 
the menu looks something like

xterm -bg lemonchiffon -sb -rightbar -sl 10000 -fn 9x15 -geometry 80x40+10+42 -ls

(i.e. -ls for a login shell) and I "defaults wrote" away the 
initial xterm as soon as I realised it was possible.

Thanks! Ticket #215 duly filed.

I personally really don't mind whether you keep the 
functionality or provide a warning with instructions in the 
release.  But if it makes no odds which way you exec the 
commands, the extra flexibility the multiple commands 
provide might prove to be useful in future too.
