This is not the expected behavior.  You should be able to "auto-copy  
on select" by using that preference in the Copy/Paste preference pane,  
but that doesn't require cmd-c.  When you cmd-c, what is selected  
should be immediately proxied to the pasteboard.

This is expected behavior.
