New background image

Hello everyone! In light of our new website that's nearing completion, and the resulting new project look, Anders was kind enough to put together for us a new background image for our generated pkgs: http://svn.macports.org/repository/macports/users/afb/background.tiff As Anders himself is quick to point out, it still needs a more professional finish (areas like the lower right corner are aching for some content like maybe a watermark, in my opinion), but I think the overall result does not look that bad: http://www.algonet.se/~afb/macports-installer.png Short of finding ourselves a talented artist who could revamp this image for us (please do step up if you're reading! ;-), does anyone object to me pushing this new background as our default one for 1.6.0? (the one in place is now is the old Hexley one... which needless to say needs taking care of in *any* way) Regards,... -jmpp

Apache2 mod_ssl fails

I did a default install with apache2 +workermpm I get this error after copying the sample config to httpd.conf httpd: Syntax error on line 96 of /opt/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load /opt/local/apache2/modules/mod_ssl.so into server: Symbol not found: _ssl_cmd_SSLCACertificateFile\n Referenced from: /opt/ local/apache2/modules/mod_ssl.so\n Expected in: flat namespace\n Any Ideas? The only thing I can think of is broken mod_ssl -Ron

Apache + PHP5 Help

I am on Leopard Server with MacPorts that I compiled from source. I ran the following command: sudo port install php5 +mysql5 +server +macosx +snmp +apache2 Then I pointed my httpd.conf to the /opt/local/apache2/modules/ libphp5.so and phpinfo shows the new version. PHP Works but I do not see anypictures. It is compiled with GD and libpng support but I get a question mark where every png should be. For more clarification I am trying to use NetMRG or Cacti. All my permissions are correct. Here is the error I get when I checked the log. 10/29/07 8:54:49 AM org.apache.httpd[35339] httpd: Syntax error on line 143 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /opt/local/ apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: dlopen(/opt/local/apache2/ modules/libphp5.so, 10): no suitable image found. passing params to startupitem.executable / portfile.7

James, I've got the startupitems documented as best I can. http://geeklair.net/new_macports_guide/#reference.portfile But I have one remaining question. How could I pass parameters such as "-d 10 -t 600" to a startupitem.executable? I'm not sure how to do that. Also, I think the portfile.7 man page needs to be split up because it is getting so big. I propose splitting portfile.7 into four parts. What do you think? portfile-global (global vars & keywords) portfile-phases (keywords related to phases) portfile-startupitems portfile-tcl (Tcl extensions) Mark

destroot.violate_mtree doesn't work?

I'm still trying to port Amanda (www.amanda.org) to Macports. Amanda wants to install its own dumper in /opt/local - not great, but it does this under FreeBSD too. In order to accommodate this I wanted to set: destroot.violate_mtree yes per the Macports guide at http://geeklair.net/new_macports_guide/. However, 'port' doesn't seem to like this directive: Can't map the URL 'file://.' to a port description file ("invalid command name "destroot.violate_mtree""). Any idea what I'm doing wrong? - Julian

That doesn't seem great. How will MacPorts know that "pre4" is supposed to be newer than "20071004-0109"? Perhaps the version should be "3.0.0pre4" as per the URL you added to the long description. Perhaps you need to start using the epoch in this portfile.
