Wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. Trying to install Lincity-NG and it failed. Running 10.4.7 on a macbook pro checking for pkg-config... /opt/local/bin/pkg-config checking for libxml-2.0 >= 2.6.11... Package libxml-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libxml-2.0.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'libxml-2.0' found configure: error: Library requirements (libxml-2.0 >= 2.6.11) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them. Error: Status 1 encountered during processing. thanks

Failure when upgrading gtk2 2.10.2_1 < 2.10.3_0

Hello, I get the following when attempting to upgrade gtk2. My MacPorts install was a new one, a few days old, and Gnome was operating without major difficulty. %------- configure: error: *** Cannot link to Accessibility Toolkit. Chicken Scheme failures

MacPorts / GNOME Weekly Report

This is the first of what I hope will be a weekly report on the goings on with the GNOME packages carried by the MacPorts project. Most of the ports in the GNOME Platform are at least at the correct major.minor version, if not the most current version, with a couple of exceptions: gnome-vfs: gnome-vfs is a development version, as the current stable version requires a rigorous dbus, which MacPorts currently does not have. I have submitted some bug reports to the dbus project, trying to get dbus working. gnome-vfs-monikers: This is a new package in GNOME, and just simply has not been ported yet. Anyone want to help? gtk-doc: This package used to have some very nasty dependencies that niether the Fink or MacPorts projects got working well (last time I attempted building this port). It may be portable now, but I have yet to attempt it. Most ports that would use it gracefully work around its absence. The GNOME desktop is slowly being updated to the current packages, although any efforts on my part are directed at getting the platform working well first. My lowest priority with the GNOME packages is getting previously unported packages ported. As always, any assistance in getting the GNOME packages ported or existing ports updated is appriciated. I have a semi-automated status list[1] of GNOME packages with the porting status. Packages listed as broken without comment are most likely on my machine at a more recent version than MacPorts is distributing as I have upgraded the port, but the upgrade has not filtered through the entire rsync process yet. This "report" has also been posted on my blog[2]. problem installing gimp

Hi - I get an error during the config phase of the gimp2 port. sudo port install gimp2 Here is the end of the output: checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.4.4... no *** Could not run GTK+ test program, checking why... *** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the *** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK+ is incorrectly installed. configure: error: Test for GTK+ failed. See the file 'INSTALL' for help. I go have the gtk2 package installed. Any ideas what is wrong? thanks again Mike

port upgrade outdated

Hi. Is 'port upgrade outdated' the wrong command to upgrade all my obsolete ports? It gives: > sudo port upgrade outdated Can't map the URL 'file://.' to a port description file (Could not find Portfile in .). Please verify that the directory and portfile syntax are correct. Error: To use the current port, you must be in a port's directory Error: No port found. The man page looks like it should work. Michael

configure/make/install options for compiling applications from source into /opt/local?

Hello, as the Gnumeric package in the Macports repository does apparently not include the Python plugin (as well as a lot of others), I would like to compile Gnumeric from source myself. Such that it is linked against the libraries already in the /opt/local tree and that it is also installed there, of course. What options must I pass to configure, make and install to achieve this? MPlayer on MacBook

Emacs devel

I installed emacs-devel +carbon with no problems. But I cannot find out how to run it. which emacs gives /usr/bin/emacs. The path is /opt/local/bin then everything else. Can anyone help?
