After much nashing of teeth I have realized (and confirmed) that if a user has port cups-headers installed on a Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) computer, the port gtk2 will not build. This situation should only arise if a user has upgraded from 10.3 to 10.4. In any event, Tiger users should uninstall ports cups-headers, since it is intended to support Mac OS X 10.3 only. Thanks in advance! Hello Thomas, Apparently, Xetex source code only compiles on MacOS X 10.4. You can try with XeTeX 0.995 (I've just updated the port). Unfortunately, I don't have a 10.3 box, so there's not much I can do. Maybe you should try to contact XeTeX author. Officially, XeTeX runs on 10.3. You could use the binaries provided on the XeTeX website, although those are not configured to use MacPort's TeX installation. Regards, Paul

dbus-0.92 workaround?

I noticed there is a semi-automated workaround that enables dbus-0.92 to install on Panther: http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/macports/ticket/10659 Only I don't seem to be able to follow the instructions... ... I can pass the prefix option to configure but, I seem to be missing what it means in step 1. by "setting the FLAGS (INSTALL.txt)" so if anybody help me out I would really appreciate it. Tim

Ruby 1.8.5

Greetings, Ruby 1.8.5 has been out for about three weeks now and the MacPorts version still lingers at 1.8.4. Does anybody take care of it ? The Portfile says that the port maintainer is 'darwinports(a)opendarwin.org' which I translate to 'nobody specifically', which doesn't seem quite right considering all the press Ruby is getting these days. Hello, Is it possible to compile the new rdesktop with sound support and get it to work? On my Intel iMac, I have installed both oss and libao but the port doesn't appear to detect this fact. Thanks for you help. -- Regards, Doug

MacPorts for Intel Macs?

Hey everyone, does macports work for intel macs yet? I downloaded and installed it from source (couldn't find any binaries if they're available) but I have been completely unsuccessful installing any of the packages since then. Thanks for the help, Timmy V.

Without -t, once more, everything builds OK. I do not understand what went wrong (especially during configure...). Emmanuel

Since I've changed to gtk28, Inkscape no longer works. I uninstalled, cleaned, then reinstalled without difficulty, but still no go. I noticed on the Inkscape site that there is an upgrade from the version on MacPorts, 0.44, to 0.44-1. I don't know whether this will make a difference. I'm running a MacBook PPC and have been experimenting with Gnome under X-11. Vince McGarry
