How to get emacs with X11 support

Hi, I would really like an emacs with X11 support, but the emacs port (21.4a, Revision 1, editors/emacs) was configured without it. In the portfile, /opt/local/var/db/dports/sources/rsync.rsync.darwinports.org_dpupdate_dports/editors/emacs/Portfile, I see the line configure.args --without-x --without-carbon, so that explains why there is no X11, support. I tried removing the "--without-x", but ended up with a "Fatal error (10).Bus error" when I tried to start the resulting emacs. (I'm on Mac OS 10.3, Darwin 7.9.0.) Is there an easy way to build the emacs port with X11 support? Thanks, Vebjorn

Possible bug compiling and installing Expat?

Hello, This is my first post to this list, sorry if I'm not doing things appropriately here. My original intention was to submit a bug to bugzilla as per the instructions on http://darwinports.opendarwin.org/help/, however when I actually get to the point where I'd be posting on Bugzilla http://bugzilla.opendarwin.org/enter_bug.cgi, there is no section for Darwinports, so... Here's my question and problem. Basically I'm running 10.4 on a Macbook pro. When I first started using ports and playing around I hosed my TCL/TK install (this is a long story), but I think it's working fine now (I ended up uninstalling it and reinstalling it from sources, ports, etc, basically tried a lot of stuff to get it working and finally did). I honestly know very little about the way compilers, makefiles, etc, work, so I'm not sure if I'm even reporting a bug or just asking a stupid question. Anyways, Darwin ports works lovely except for when I try to install the expat port. I've ran selfupdate and sync, and all of my ports aside from nmap are up to date. I'm tempted to just install expat from the source, but I don't want the same thing to happen to me when I installed TCL from source and things blew up. issues with the gnucash port

first, many thanks to whomever put gnucash into the ports tree. i thought that the someone would be interested in the problems that i ran into while installing gnucash. the first, i found a workaround for somewhere on the web (my apologies for the formatting): ---> Fetching scrollkeeper ---> Attempting to fetch scrollkeeper-0.3.14.tar.bz2 from http://www.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/gnome/sources/scrollkeeper/0.3 ---> Verifying checksum(s) for scrollkeeper ---> Extracting scrollkeeper ---> Configuring scrollkeeper ---> Building scrollkeeper with target all ---> Staging scrollkeeper into destroot ---> Packaging tgz archive for scrollkeeper 0.3.14_1 ---> Installing scrollkeeper 0.3.14_1 ---> Activating scrollkeeper 0.3.14_1 Error: Target com.apple.activate returned: Image error: /opt/local/var/log/scrollkeeper.log already exists and does not belong to a registered port. Please install the scrollkeeper package: http://scrollkeeper.sourceforge.net i solved the problem by activating scrollkeeper. apparently, deleting the log file allowed port to continue but it did not attempt to reactivate the port. now i have one final problem to solve. gnucash compiled successfully but i can't run it. i've installed apple's x server (1.1) and i get the following error when i invoke gnucash from the terminal: _X11TransSocketINETConnect() can't get address for localhost:0:6000: No address associated with nodename (gnucash:8820): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: i've searched the web and it suggests that the problem is associated with my DISPLAY environment variable. i've tried setting DISPLAY to : 0.0 and localhost:0.0 in my .bashrc to no avail. any idea what i should do to correct this? thanks in advance. z

Improvements to trac/svn workflow?

Hi all, I don't know what other developers and users think about it, but I find our current installation and habits with trac & svn difficult to work with. Is there a way to get trac to send e-mails when some bugs we're watching is updated? Even the original poster of the bug doesn't get e-mail feedback. See for example the discussion at http:// trac.macosforge.org/projects/macports/ticket/10651 Is there a way to get more useful rss feeds? Could we at least remind the port concerned in the commit messages?
