Gimp - libgnome problems

platform PowerBook G4, Macports 2.520 Gimp is currently faulting on libgnome which won't install on its own either. Puzzling through the error output, I find "ld: warning can't open dynamic library: /opt/local/lib/libintl. 3.dylib". There is something very odd here. By hand I can find /opt/local/lib/ libintl.8.dylib. Is libgnome really that far out of date? Furthermore, "port installed libintl" reports "None of the specified ports are installed". In addition, "port search libintl" yields "p5- libintl-perl perl/p5-libintl-perl 1.16 Perl internationalization library" which seems to be neither what I have nor what I need. I don't know what I have that caused libintl. 8.dylib to be installed, so I don't know whether I can safely downgrade it. I have doubts about trying to have two versions co-exist. Suggestions? curious: iphone compiling?

I'm curious regarding stuff like Chmox -- I've been able to install the Installer.app and a lot 3rd party software - including Ruby, Stumbler, etc. What I'd REALLY like is 2 viewers for a lot of the digital manuals I've got - a good PDF reader, and .chm viewer. Though I've tried the Preview.app, it doesn't work for the pdfs I have - but emailing them to myself does. Now, if there's a way of compiling Chmox for the iphone that would rock. On a different note - how does one add to the $PATH in z-shell?

Getting Gimp started.

I just finished a new install of GIMP version 2.2.14 via MacPorts. When I issue command : gimp I get this message: GIMP could not initialize the graphical user interface. Make sure a proper setup for your display environment exists. In my .profile I do have the following added: export DISPLAY=:0.0 Any ideas why gimp will not start up? Thanks for any help! --Samuel.

Hi Stefan, thanks for your reply. I fear the problem is the weak driver supplied by Canon for my Canon PIXMA MP530. With the third party driver of printfab I can print now. Not too sure yet, if it works without this shareware product. Cheers, Thorsten. Errors Installing php5-devel

Hi All, Was hoping someone could help. I'm getting an error while trying to install php5-devel. command: sudo port install php5-devel +apache2 +fastcgi error: Error: Target org.macports.destroot returned: xinstall: Cannot stat: /opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/release/ports/www/php5-devel/files/mod_php.conf, No such file or directory Error: Status 1 encountered during processing. xfig crashes

I installed xfig-3.2.5_1 via macports and it crashes when I click on a menu button (File,Edit,View,...). Pulling up a dialog box by a keyboard sequence (e.g. M-o to open) seems to work OK, though. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jonathan

Getting new Gutenprint 5.1.3 to Macports

Hi all, /// platform: MacBookPro - Intel Core Duo - MacOS 10.4.10 - Macports 1.5.2 today I tried out Macports by installing the new Gimp 2.4rc. After hours of depency tracking... still non idea, why this was necesarry... I got Gimp compiled all right and running. Next milestone would be printing from Gimp, which does not work yet. An idea from some forum was to upgrade Gutenprint from 5.0.1 to 5.1.3. Okay, but this version does not seem to be available for Macports yet. Or is it? Cheers, Thorsten.

Hi, I got the error message below while upgrading hdf5 with "port upgrade outdated". This upgrading is not urgent for me, but I would like to know how to fix it for curious because I never had a similar problem before with "port upgrade outdated" command for regularly use. trying to install gimp

Gimp has failed again. This time because libbonobo isn't recent enough. So I attempted to upgrade it. I can't because I don't have the right perl xml parsers. I got something that looked like it might be the right thing and successfully installed. libbonobo still complains. Does anyone know what I really should install? Details below.
