It should be possible to create a macirb session that (like script/console, in Rails) loads up an app's code and then lets the user interact with it, via the keyboard. I find console very handy for exploration, so I think this would be, too. Going a bit further, what about setting up a macirb session that lets the user interact dynamically with MR? For example, start up MR, play with the GUI, then go over to the macirb session to look at the results, overload methods, etc. It may be that Xcode already has this sort of functionality (if so, please point me to it :). I suspect, however, that Xcode isn't really built to take advantage of dynamic languages. When installing classically using "gem install", this file gets correctly chmoded as executable (that is right!). When installing using "macgem install", this file has no executable flag (bug!). MacRuby progress, questions

I've been able to create a (very) simple MacRuby app, but I'm stalled on some Cocoa questions. Basically, I'm looking for a Cocoa object (or some combination of objects) to implement a variation on a Terminal, as follows: I want two columns of text, controlled by a common vertical scrollbar. The right-hand column should act like a Terminal window. That is, new text (whether entered, pasted, or generated by running an external command) should show up at the "end" of the screen. Text can be copied from any region of this column. The left-hand column will contain sequence numbers for entries in the right-hand column. These will be generated by my code (when it thinks it has received a user "command") and won't be copiable or editable. I could use a Table View (with non-editable columns) to display the text, but I'm not sure how to get at the keyboard (or paste) input). connecting to subversion API from MacRuby

Hi, I would like to write a MacRuby application that would use the Ruby bindings for Subversion (from here: http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/trunk/subversion/bindings/swig/) Do you think this is possible at all at this point in MacRuby development? If it is, could you give me some hints how could I install those bindings in MacRuby? Can I just tell it to use the files that I installed from macports for ruby 1.8? If yes, then how? Or should I recompile the bindings separately? >From what I can see, the files that were installed from macports are mostly in /opt/local/lib (libsvn*.a, libsvn*.la, libsvn*.dylib), /opt/local/lib/ruby/site-ruby/1.8 (*.rb), /opt/local/lib/ruby/site-ruby/1.8/i686-darwin9.5.0 (*.a, *.la, *.bundle). I've found some of them also in /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8, I'm not sure if they weren't there from the beginning... Jakub Suder

PBI - session management in (mac)irb

This Partly-baked Idea (PBI) concerns (mac)irb session management. Given the number of libraries that one may invoke in a macirb session, it would be nice to be able to save and restore some sort of session workspaces. I suspect that most of this could be done in Ruby. testing MacRuby with RubySpec?
