Is there anywhere I can download the installer for the intel compatible macports package? All I can find is darwin ports and it doesn't seem to run on my mbp.

Figuring maybe my ports were out of date (updated maybe 1-2 weeks ago), I then tried running % sudo port sync which stalls after syncing the ports. I saw downloading network activity, which then stopped, but the port command never terminated after many minutes following the download activity. But perhaps this is a separate, unrelated problem... Getting back to the gettext issue, I discovered the instructions here pertaining to it: http://trac.macports.org/projects/macports/wiki/ProblemHotlist The shell script provided there only reported gettext. I tried uninstalling and cleaning libiconv (which I know what a dependency), then re-install, but it seemed to be stuck on ./ configure as before (same kernal_tas and msgfmt processes coming up to the top). I then uninstalled and force re-installed gettext, removing the two older 0.14 versions I had with the '-duf' options as suggested. This lead to lots of things being cleaned out. Then I attempted re- installing gettext and my previously hosed libiconv configuration then proceeded as normal: % sudo port install -f gettext ---> Configuring libiconv ---> Building libiconv with target all ---> Staging libiconv into destroot ---> Packaging tgz archive for libiconv 1.11_0+darwin_8 ---> Installing libiconv 1.11_0+darwin_8 ---> Activating libiconv 1.11_0+darwin_8 ---> Cleaning libiconv ---> Fetching gettext ---> Verifying checksum(s) for gettext ---> Extracting gettext ---> Applying patches to gettext ---> Configuring gettext ---> Building gettext with target all ---> Staging gettext into destroot ---> Packaging tgz archive for gettext 0.15_0 ---> Installing gettext 0.15_0 ---> Activating gettext 0.15_0 ---> Cleaning gettext Joy. But now for the acid test: activating mod_perl2. Regarding that trouble with 'port sync', it still hangs, so this is apparently a separate problem. I'll post some info about that to the list separately.

Gnome install problem

Installing Gnome failed while installing gnome-applets. I cleaned all and attempted to install again but is failed with the same error. Php-module for apache - start server

Hello, I am very new with macs but I need to install zoph (www.nother.net) on my imac (Intel CPU). For this I need new apache, php and more. So I installed darwin|macports 1.3.2 and php5 and apache2.2. 1. How do I get a php5 Module for apache? 2. How do I start the mysql5-Server and restart it every time I start the mac? 3. If I start apachectl, it still uses /usr/bin/apachectl from my Mac-OS. I already added the PATH in /etc/profiles and as well in my .profile. Can I uninstall the older versions of apache, mysql, perl etc. that came with my macos? 4. If I figured out all the problems above i can install zoph. I could do it from source in /usr/local, or is there a better way? Is it possible to build my own zoph-package to install/uninstall it with macports? Thanks for your help. Uli

vim installs in bad places

wget doesnt build for me - Perl Problem

Hello all, finally I managed my switch from DP to macports list . . . and now I need your help with a Perl problem. I've done $ port install emacs-devel +carbon and also $ port uninstall emacs-devel $ port install emacs-devel +carbon-beta Each install gives a binary emacs-22.0.50 which appears to be a non-windowed, non-carbonized version of emacs like the regular 'port install emacs' package. I asked a little while ago about my failing wxWidgets install. Got a good suggestion, but it didn't work. I've recently cleaned the installation, did a port -d selfupdate and tried the install again. It still fails, but the failure looks a little different now, though it still seems to be related to dylib not being prebound.
