I'm trying to get Python 2.5 installed but get this error in return. patch to add a valid master_site to the lzo2 macport

I couldn't reach the master_site, so I used the one recommended by Linux From Scratch. gdc & g95 error: indirect jmp without `*'

Hi everybody, I can't seem to compile anything with g95 @0.90_1 and gdc 0.24. I get the same error message for both. I am running OS X 10.4.10 on a MacBook Pro. I haven't installed any gcc aside from Apple's. Here is the output when I try to compile a hello world with f95: casey@agave [~/Desktop] g95 hello.f95 /var/tmp//cc6OFGZh.s:59:indirect jmp without `*' /var/tmp//cc6OFGZh.s:78:indirect jmp without `*' /var/tmp//cc6OFGZh.s:97:indirect jmp without `*' /var/tmp//cc6OFGZh.s:112:indirect jmp without `*' I can then use g95 to compile but not assemble using the -S flag, and then change all the instances of 'jmp %eax' to 'jmp *%eax' in the .s file. When I run it on the modified .s, it produces a working program. I guess that either the compiler is giving bad output, or the assembler is complaining unnecessarily. Any ideas? bogus activating mesgs

mac 0s X 10.4.10 Intel Core Duo 1.86 GHz darwin 8.10.1 When upgrading outdated ports via PortAuthority I keep getting the mesg Activating ghostscript 8.54_0 although I have ghostscript 8.6 installed. The message repeats about 5 times (and apparently fails each time). How do I fix this? also do I need to add something to MANPATH variable in order to see the man pages various ports install? How do I do this? As you may guess Im a beginner here :)

Platform Powerbook G4. OS X 10.4.10. MacPorts 2.520. I've made some progress toward installing Gimp, but have run into further troubles. I finally got around the libbonobo issue by re- syncing, then executing sudo port -ncuf upgrade libbonobo. Now I'm getting mistakes from installing Gimp that look to my untutored eye as though several things are misplaced in my system. I don't know whether this is really correct though, nor how to fix it if it is. Below is the output on the terminal. macports without root

Hi all I just read this thread from 2006 about running macports without root rights: http://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports-dev/2006-October/000128.html The outcome seems to be that MacPorts don't need root, but certain ports may well expect root rights, especially during the "install" phase. So the following ideas were brought up: 1. flag the packages requiring root as such 2. patch the necessary ports as required if possible I was wondering if something had been some in this direction, and if not, if it is somehow on the roadmap.
