The version of boinc in MacPorts is badly outdated, and will operate poorly when connected to the boinc server. In addition boinc itself has an intel mac version now at 5.11.20. The portfile needs to come up to 5.11.27 or it serves no purpose. Since an intel mac version is available perhaps this port should be deleted if it cant be brought up to 5.11.27. Note that this client is run as a screensaver and is therefore likely to be installed and forgotten as long as the screensaver part functions. The distributed computing aspect is another matter and may be overlooked by end user. To avoid causing trouble to the boinc *server*, something needs to be done. ticket made in trac.

There are two patches for the boost port that look good and are waiting to be applied. fetching from closer mirrors?

as I watch my port upgrade process scroll by (as much as progress on an 800 MHz G4 can be called scrolling), I wonder if there is some way to fetch from geographically nearer mirrors. Lyon, FR, is a long way from here, and even if they have oodles of bandwidth, avoiding trans-oceanic hops is probably a good idea. I know I can hack the order of mirrors but that's not persistent. p7zip install error

When trying to install p7zip I get the following error. Get a Macports app to use the system fonts

I recently installed the GIMP with MacPorts, but noticed that the MacPorts installed version doesn't see the system fonts like the old version did. It has its own fonts, but they're not the same. Any idea how to get it to do that? Maybe just copy the system font files over to some folder in the MacPorts install folder? Thanks, --Benton

PHP logging to Apache error log

Hi, I've installed Apache and PHP through MacPorts. Everything is good, except that PHP won't log to its own error log when running through Apache. (When run through the CLI it logs to its own error log as expected.) I've amended the php.ini at /opt/local/etc/php.ini to add the error_log value, see below for my full php.ini file. I attempted to trace the error_log value from a PHP file being run through Apache, with the following: error_log( ini_get(error_log) ); Which logs "/Users/simon/Library/Logs/php_error.log"... in the Apache error log! Is there any way I can force PHP to log into its own separate log? Remove all ports

Is there a way to remove all installed ports? I want to start clean and before I install a port, I want to see if the port is the latest version of the software, if not, I want to try to upgrade the port. Thanks, Jim
